Tomorrow I'll miss you
Remember I'll always be true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my loving to you
Ahhh, can't you just hear Lennon's guitar strumming madly away in the background?
Love songs have been a staple of the music industry forever it seems. They are part of the soundtrack of our lives. Here's another one you might recognize:
There's no way they could have made two
Girl you're my reality
But I'm lost in a-a-a a dream
You're the first, you're the last, my everything
Have you got the tune in your head? Can you hear Barry White's low, rich voice as it swims up into the higher notes? Oh yeah, I knew you would.
What is your favorite love song? Or maybe you couldn't possibly pick just one. If so, tell us a few of your favorites.
I'm especially interested in why. Do the lyrics have a special meaning for you? Did you play that song over and over in your bedroom when you were in your teens? Did you dance to it at your wedding? Was it on the car radio when you had your first kiss? Or maybe the tune just grabs you on some elemental level.
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
Hmmmm ... are my oldies roots showing? Careful, I feel a rendition of Crocodile Rock coming on.
So what is your song? And feel free to pop a few lyrics into your response, get everyone out there in blogland humming along.
One of the best songs of today is Bittersweet by Apocalyptica, it's a short song, so here are all the lyrics:
ReplyDeleteI’m giving up the ghost of love
in the shadows cast on devotion
She is the one that I adore
creed of my silent suffocation
Break this bittersweet spell on me
lost in the arms of destiny
Bittersweet
I won’t give up
I’m possessed by her
I'm bearing her cross
She's turned into my curse
Break this bittersweet spell on me
lost in the arms of destiny
Bittersweet
I want you
I’m only wanting you
And I need you
I’m only needing you
Break this bittersweet spell on me
lost in the arms of destiny
Break this bittersweet spell on me
lost in the arms of destiny
Bittersweet...
But the song is very good, it's worth a listen.
When my husband and I were on one of our first ever dates, we were sitting on a low wall by the side of a river, kissing (as you do). Three scruffy-looking blokes came ambling up, and struck a pose right in front of us. One clicked his fingers, and counted "a-one, a-two, a-one, two, three, and... (they broke into song)
ReplyDelete'I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
Love is all around me
And so the feeling grows'
(song is 'Love is All Around' by Wet, Wet, Wet)
These three young guys sang in beautiful harmonies. They were really good!
So, as tacky or corny as that song may be, it brings back memories of such a funny event on such a romantic night.
HOT BUTTERED RUM
ReplyDeleteBy Tommy Thompson (1937-2003) of the old-time revival band the Red Clay Ramblers. From Chuckin' the Frizz, 1979.
When chimney smoke hangs still and low,
Across the stubbled fields of snow,
When angry skys reach down to seize,
The sorry, blackened bones of trees,
In the dead of winter when the silent snowbirds come,
You're my sweet maple sugar, honey,
Hot buttered rum.
When dreary Christmas decorations,
Line the streets and filling stations,
And dime store centers can't disguise,
Their empty heads and empty eyes,
In the dead of winter when the tinsel angels come,
You're my sweet maple sugar, honey,
Hot buttered rum.
When gloves and boots and woolen parkas,
Bring cold comfort to the heart,
And bitter memories freeze the tongue,
And songs of love are left unsung,
In the dead of winter when the cold feelings come,
You're my sweet maple sugar, honey,
Hot buttered rum.
My favorite is "Dream a little dream of me" as performed by Mama Cass. I was listening to the Mama's and Papa's while getting ready to elope, when my husband walked in to pick me up and drive me to the place we were getting married, and he started singing it along with my CD, we had our first dance right there in the living room. It is one of my favorite memories, I remember thinking "this is definitely the one" while he was singing it to me.
ReplyDeleteStars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "i love you"
Birds singin’ in the sycamore trees
Dream a little dream of me
Say nighty-night and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me
While I’m alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me
Stars fading but I linger on dear
Still craving your kiss
I’m longin’ to linger till dawn dear
Just saying this
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
(instrumental break)
Stars shining up above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "i love you"
Birds singin’ in the sycamore trees
Dream a little dream of me
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
Yes, dream a little dream of me
Even though my husband writes me songs I really love, this song is one of my favorites -though I love it best sung by Madeline Peyroux, I guess its's a farewell ballad, but it's a love song for sure. Ah...now I'm thinking of how pretty it is, I like your site , I'm going to link to it,

YOU'RE GONNA MAKE ME LONESOME WHEN YOU GO
Words and Music by Bob Dylan
1974,1975 Ram's Horn Music
Home -Eternal Circle- Lyrics List Album List
I've seen love go by my door
It's never been this close before
Never been so easy or so slow.
Been shooting in the dark too long
When somethin's not right it's wrong
Yer gonna make me lonesome when you go.
Dragon clouds so high above
I've only known careless love,
It's always hit me from below.
This time around it's more correct
Right on target, so direct,
Yer gonna make me lonesome when you go.
Purple clover, Queen Anne lace,
Crimson hair across your face,
You could make me cry if you don't know.
Can't remember what I was thinkin' of
You might be spoilin' me too much, love,
Yer gonna make me lonesome when you go.
Flowers on the hillside, bloomin' crazy,
Crickets talkin' back and forth in rhyme,
Blue river runnin' slow and lazy,
I could stay with you forever
And never realize the time.
Situations have ended sad,
Relationships have all been bad.
Mine've been like Verlaine's and Rimbaud.
But there's no way I can compare
All those scenes to this affair,
Yer gonna make me lonesome when you go.
Yer gonna make me wonder what I'm doin',
Stayin' far behind without you.
Yer gonna make me wonder what I'm sayin',
Yer gonna make me give myself a good talkin' to.
I'll look for you in old Honolulu,
San Francisco, Ashtabula,
Yer gonna have to leave me now, I know.
But I'll see you in the sky above,
In the tall grass, in the ones I love,
Yer gonna make me lonesome when you go.
This is the song that keeps going over and over in my world right now, although I'm really single! I graduated from Nursing School, getting ready to take the national exam for RN, recovered from a bad relationship, am slooooooowly talking to a new friend, working on "doing it right" - not settling for less than I want and deserve - started a new job, was on the first week and was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. This is my song I heard that is for me. It gives me hope, helps me be positive, helps me to remember not to go too fast with the-most-perfect-person- and keep it all in perspective...

Time And A Word
Anderson/Foster (YES)
In the morning when you rise,
Do you open up your eyes, see what I see?
Do you see the same things ev'ry day?
Do you think of a way to start the day
Getting things in proportion?
Spread the news and help the world go 'round.
Have you heard of a time that will help us get it together again?
Have you heard of the word that will stop us going wrong?
Well, the time is near the word you'll hear
When you get things in perspective.
Spread the news and help the word go round.
There's a time and the time is now and it's right for me,
It's right for me, and the time is now.
There's a word and the word is love and it's right for me,
It's right for me, and the word is love.
Have you heard of a time that will help get it together again?
Have you heard of the word that will stop us going wrong?
Well, the time is near and the word you'll hear
When you get things in perspective.
Spread the news and help the word go round.
There's a time and the time is now and it's right for me,
It's right for me, and the time is now.
There's a word and the word is love and it's right for me,
It's right for me, and the word is love.
There's a time and the time is now and it's right for me,
It's right for me, and the time is now.
There's a word and the word is love and it's right for me,
It's right for me, and the word is love.
GREAT choices everyone! Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteJellyhead, have you seen the movie "Love Actually"? I think they use that song in that movie.
Smunky, I agree, Mama Cass is indeed amazing.
We've even got some Dylan mixed in there. Who's next?
My husband and I still think of this as our song.
ReplyDeleteArtist: Etta James
Song: A Sunday Kind Of Love
Album: Her Best
[" Her Best " CD]
I want a Sunday kind of love
A love to last past Saturday night
And I'd like to know it's more than love at first sight
And I want a Sunday kind of love
Oh yea yea
I want a a love that's on the square
Can't seem to find somebody
Someone to care
And I'm on a lonely road that leads to no where
I need a Sunday kind of love
I do my Sunday dreaming, Oh yea
And all my Sunday scheming
Every minute, every hour, every day
Oh I'm hoping to discover
A certain kind of lover
Who will show me the way
And my arms need someone
Someone to enfold
To keep me warm when Mondays and Tuesdays grow cold
Love for all my life to have and to hold
Oh and I want a Sunday kind of love
Oh yea yea yea
I don't want a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday, Friday or Saturday
Oh nothing but Sunday oh yea
I want a Sunday Sunday
I want a Sunday kind of love
Oh yea
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday kind of loooove
I could have sworn I don't like country music, but the when I Googled "find lyrics to", I came up with the cowboy lyrics site.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I won't admit to being a country music fan, I do have a weakness for cowboys.
I'll attribute this one to the fact that I was in love with Kris Kristofferson when i fell in love with my husband.
Artist/Band: Kristofferson Kris
Lyrics for Song: Loving Her Was Easier
Lyrics for Album: Essential Kris Kristofferson
(Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)
I have seen the morning burning golden on the mountains in the skies.
Achin' with the feelin' of the freedom of an eagle when she flies.
Turnin' on the world the way she smiled upon my soul as I lay dying.
Healin' as the colours in the sunshine and the shadows of her eyes.
Wakin' in the mornin' to the feelin' of her fingers on my skin.
Wipin' out the traces of the people and the places that I've been.
Teachin' me that yesterday was something that I never thought of trying.
Talkin' of tomorrow and the money, love and time we had to spend.
Lovin' her was easier than anything I'll ever do again.
Comin' close together with a feelin' that I've never known before, in my time.
She ain't ashamed to be a woman, or afraid to be a friend.
I don't know the answer to the easy way she opened every door in my mind.
But dreamin' was as easy as believin' it was never gonna end.
And lovin' her was easier than anything I'll ever do again.
Two by two and side by side
ReplyDeleteLove's gonna find you yes it is
You just can't hide
You'll hear it call
Your heart will fall
Then love will fly
It's gonna soar
I don't care for any casanova thing
All I can say is...
Love Stinks (J. Geils Band) is the song my husband and I have somehow acquired as "our song." We've been married over 30 years and, to be honest, it's a bit of a joke between us, but it also expresses some of the ups and downs of our relationship. You'd have to understand the humor between us to understand why that song.
Thanks for your comments about the joys of quitting. Yep, that's the short list. Quitting is hard, really hard. I still can't believe I managed to do it. :)
Sea of Love, The Honeydrippers version.
ReplyDelete"Do you remember when we met
That's the day I knew you were my pet
I want to tell you how much I love you
Come with me, my love
To the sea, the sea of love
I want to tell you how much I love you"
That song was popular when we were planning our wedding back in 1985. As soon as I heard it, I knew I wanted it for our wedding dance, since we both had a "love at first sight" moment.
Hi! Found you through Hope.
"Color My World" by the late Terry Kath of Chicago:
ReplyDeleteCOLOR MY WORLD (Chicago)
As time goes on I realize
Just what you mean to me
And now, now that you're near
Promise your love
That I've waited to share
And dreams of our moments together
Color my world with hope of loving you
I cast my vote for "Lady", by Styx. Oops, my age is showing...Styx is a 70's rock band. This was one of our favorite songs, when my husband and I were dating in high school.
ReplyDeleteHere is the first verse:
Lady, when youre with me Im smiling
Give me all your love
Your hands build me up when Im sinking
Just touch me and my troubles all fade
Lady, from the moment I saw you
Standing all alone
You gave all the love that I needed
So shy, like a child who has grown
Isn't that so sweet?
My favorite love songs are, i think, 'I give him(her) all my love' by the Beatles, 'My girl/guy' sung by any number of people and Billy Joel's 'Tell her about it'. It's not that any of these songs have any associations with me any my husband, but after getting married that Beatle song seemed to become even more meaningful. Oh there's also 'Something' another Beatles' song.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, my husband's favorite love songs are 'You will never grow old'(a really old song) and 'Living Doll' among others. I like those too:)
This is awesome! You've all got me humming away and trying to remember lyrics. Let me see... (I could cheat and look it up, but this seems more fun)
ReplyDeleteI know you'll say
What could make me feel this way
My girl (my girl, my girl)
I'm talkin' 'bout my girl
And I definitely remember Styx. I still have one of their albums on vinyl tucked away in the basement I think.
As for COLOR MY WORLD, my wife and I (okay, my wife) chose that for our first dance at our wedding, so that would be a natural choice for me as well.
Thanks everyone! Keep 'em coming...
Can't think of the lyrics, now, but I love the Pretender's song "I'll Stand by You". It's fantastic, whether as a friend or a lover.
ReplyDeleteAs for more classic melodies, "Danny Boy" and "Rose of Tralee" are 2 of my favorites.
As for wedding songs, I don't remember the two songs that were sung at my wedding. One was a Kenny Rodgers song that I'd never heard before. I don't recall the other one at all. The guy who was doing our music was a little on the stodgy side, and none of the newer songs that DH & I liked were on this guy's "will sing" list. And, because the parents & grandma were paying for the wedding, we went with the guy that went to the same church where we'd be having the wedding. *sigh* And quite honestly, I couldn't come up with a single older song to suggest, in the 2 months or so of planning that we had for our wedding. I was kinda occupied with being a new mom, and was rather sleep deprived. So, I went with the 2 songs this guy & DH finally settled on. But they mean nothing to me. Unfortunately.
DH and I have never had that "This is our song" moment. Unless you consider the Garth Brooks song "Ain't goin' down till the sun comes up", which was somewhat familiar in theme to DH & I when we were dating. *blush*
Thanks for commenting on my blog!
ReplyDeleteMine is The Greatest Love of All, Whitney Houston . . . see, it's about learning to love yourself, and teaching children to love themselves, and, of course, I related it to wishing I had been taught that, as a child.
I was about 13 in 1985 when this song came out, and boy, was the timing perfect.
So this isn't a traditional, couples love song, but I would listen to it for hours, and use it as my strength because I had nowhere else to get it from!
Anyway, probably TMI, but that's the why's and wherefore's of my "love" song.
As for a more traditional love song, well, I guess I'm not exactly traditional, lol.
George Strait, Blue Clear Sky (this song was out on the radios new, right before I met and fell in love w/my dh, so it was still playing alot on air then).
We both had given up on ever finding "the one" . . . here's the lyrics! It's a bit bouncy, between the speed of a ballad and a more rowdy song.
You swear you've had enough
You're ready to give up
On that little lie they call love
Then out of the blue clear sky
Fallin' right into your hands
Like rain on the desert sand
It's the last thing you had planned
Out Of The Blue Clear Sky
[chorus]
Here she comes a walkin' talkin' true love
Sayin' I been lookin' for you love
Surprise your new love has arrived
Out of the blue clear sky
Ain't love a funny thing
One day you're givin' up the dream
And the next you're pickin' out a ring
Out of then blue clear sky
[chorus]
Here she comes a walkin' talkin' true love
Sayin' I been lookin' for you love
Surprise your new love has arrived
Out of the blue clear
[chorus]
Out of the blue clear sky
"Unchained Melody," without a doubt. Not that it's a shared song between myself and my husband, but we both like it. So hard to pick one. My parents danced to "Begin the Beguine" at their wedding.
ReplyDeleteIt's just that "Unchained Melody," with its soaring "wall of sound," and stirring lyrics takes me to a very good place.
I actually blogged about my "Anthem" (September archives called "It's got a good Beat and you can really dance to it").
ReplyDeleteSo I'll tell you about one of my other favorite empowering songs.
It's called "Girl From the Gutter" and it's by Kina. I love it because I think anybody who has ever been screwed over by anybody else, an ex-lover, an old friend, your crazy deposit-keeping landlord, can relate to it, especially once you get your life back on track.
The lyric are:
For all the things you said I'd never do
For all the
things you said that were untrue
For all the times you made
me feel alone
Said I'd never make it on my own(chorus 1)Things are lookin' up for me now
Seems like Karma's makin' its rounds
Its my
turn now, won't be held down no
Karma's gonna
visit you too
You gotta pay for the things you put me
through
I hope you do, I hope you do, yeah, yeah
(chorus 2)I hope your hell is filled with magazines
And on every page you see a big picture of me
And under
every picture the caption should read
Not bad for a girl
from the gutter like me
For all the times you said "I
got your back"
For all the times you stabbed me
For all the times you tried to hurt my pride
For all the pain I held down deep inside
(Chorus 1)Things are
lookin' up for me now
Seems like Karma's makin' its rounds
Its my turn now, won't be held
down no
Karma's gonna visit you too
You gotta pay
for the things you put me through
I hope you do, I hope you
do, yeah, yeah(
(Chorus 2)I hope your hell is
filled with magazines
And on every page you see a big
picture of me
And under every picture the caption should read
Not bad for a girl from the gutter like me
Needed to make me weak to help you feel stronger
I know y'all bitches think I'm somewhere dyin' inside
O yeah poor Kina, she went home
She couldn't take it no longer
But I'm, right here I'm right here I'm right here
This is my favorite love song, no particular guy comes to mind...I'm still waiting for him...but here's the song:
ReplyDeleteThere are places I remember, in my life
Though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life
I love you more.
Meg

One of my all time favorites is this one by Barbara Striesand from the movie "A Star is Born"
ReplyDeleteLove soft as an easy chair
Love fresh as the morning air
One love that is shared by two
I have found with you
Like a rose under the april snow
I was always certain love would grow
Love ageless and evergreen
Seldom seen by two
You and I will make each night a first
Every day a beginning
Spirits rise and their dance is unrehearsed
They warm and excite us, cause we have the brightest love
Two lives that shine as one
Morning glory and midnight sun
Time weve learned to sail above
Time wont change the meaning of one love
Ageless and ever evergreen
Two of my favorite love songs are "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds, which is "our" song (my hubby and me) and "Feels Like Home" by Randy Newman (especially the version performed by Bonnie Raitt, which you should really listen to if you've never heard it.)
ReplyDeleteTHE LUCKIEST
I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
FEELS LIKE HOME
something in your eyes
makes me wanna lose myself
makes me wanna lose myself
in your heart
something in your voice
makes my heart beat fast
hope this feeling will last
the rest of my life
if you knew
how lonely my life has been
and how low i've felt for so long
if you knew
i wanted someone to some along
and change my world
the way you've done
it feels like home
feels like home to me
feels like i'm on my way back
where i come from
feels like home
feels like home to me
feels like i'm on my wayback
where i'm from
with your embrace
down a long dark street
and a sigh of wind in the night
it's alright
cause i have you here with me
and i can almost see
the dark feels light
if you knew
how much this moment means to me
and how long i've waited for your touch
if you knew
i wanted someone to come along
i never thought i'd love anyone
so much
feels like home
feels like home to me
feels like i'm on my way to where i come from
feels like home to me
feels like home to me
feels like i'm on my way back to where i belong
feels like i'm on my way back to where i belong
Thank you for the comment on my blog. I'm very awed! :)
ReplyDeleteI second Chantal Kreviazuk's song Feels Like Home and I 3 other favorites that we also used during our wedding because of their beautiful lyrics and melody.
1. Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts - I especially like this line: "lovers who broke my heart, they were like northern stars; pointing me on my way into your loving arms - this time i know it's true that God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you."
2. When You Know by Shawn Colvin (from the movie Serendipity) - "when it feels this time, you found the one you never let him go... coz you know, when you know, then you know."
3. At the Beginning by Richard Marx and Donna Lewis (from the movie Anastasia) - "in the end, I want to be standing at the beginning with you"... The lyrics is wonderful - it's almost like our theme song!! :)
Our song, the one we both insisted be played by the band (our friends) at our informal wedding reception, is:
ReplyDeleteWonderful Tonight
(by eric clapton)
Its late in the evening
She's wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her make up
And brushes her long blonde hair
And then she asks me
Do I look alright
And I say yes, you look wonderful tonight
We go a party
And everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady
Thats walking around with me
And then she asks me
Do you feel alright
And I say yes, I feel wonderful tonight
I feel wonderful
Because I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize
How much I love you
Its time to go home now
And I've got an aching head
So I give her the car keys
She helps me to bed
And then I tell her
As I turn out the light
I say my darling, you were wonderful tonight
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight
Whenever I hear it play, I have to stop and listen. And if he's not there, I'm thinking of Bob. If he is there, we hold hands and share a look or a hug, depending on where we are.
I did a post a few months back about different songs and their impact on my own life and marriage. One song always stood out for my husband and myself. "Our song" would be "With You" by Lila McCann. We were young when we fell in love (me 16 him 17) and married at 18 and 19. Everyone we knew, including our families, thought we were insane for getting married so young. But I knew I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life, for better or worse no matter what anyone thought. We've been married for over 7 years now and we still smile when we hear this song.
ReplyDeleteLast night I couldn't sleep
I found it hard to even breathe
Oh I'm in trouble deep...with you
Today I stayed in bed
Can't shake these voices in my head
I've fallen off the edge...with you
Well all my friends say that I'm
Way out of touch, if I'm not
crazy then baby this must be love
I would go anywhere
Do anything, no I don't care
Long as I know
I'll always go...with you
Now it's all making sense
Forever's in the present tense
I know it all begins...with you
Oh and so the story goes
I am yours to have and hold
And I can't wait to grow old...with you
Well all my friends say that I'm
Way out of touch, if I'm not
crazy then maybe I'm crazy in love
I would go anywhere
Do anything, no I don't care
Long as I know
I'll always go...with you
Well all my friends say that I'm
Way out of touch, if I'm not
crazy then baby this could be love
I would go anywhere
I would go anywhere
Do anything, no I don't care
Long as I know
I'll always go...with you
With you
I would go anywhere with you
Oh...this post is custom made for me. I am a love song junkie.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite right now with hubby gone has to be "I guess that's why they call it the blues." by Elton John.
"And I guess that's why they call it the blues.
Time on my hands
Would be time spent with you
Laughing like children
Living like lovers
Rolling like thunder
Under the covers
And I guess that's why they call it the blues."
Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen
ReplyDelete...you can hide 'neath your covers and study your pain,
Make crosses from your lovers,
through roses in the rain,
Waste your summer prayin' in vain
for a savior to rise from these streets.
Well now I'm no hero, that's understood.
All the redemption I can offer, girl,
is beneath this dirty hood,
with a chance to make it good somehow,
hey what else can we do now?....
My husband and I love Smokey Robinson. Ooo, Baby Baby (despite the depressing lyrics) is our favorite.
ReplyDeleteWe also played "Wonderful Tonight" at our wedding reception. That song, of course, now holds special significance in our marriage. However, when I was just starting to understand what this "love thing" was, one song stuck in my head. All these years since it came out, I've called it my "Couples Only Skate" song, because I remember watching all the young couples who were obviously deeply in love (or lust) skating in each other's arms and staring into one another's eyes. This is totally cheesy, but I love it, and I'm not embarassed to admit it. It's REO Speedwagon's "Keep on Loving You."
ReplyDeleteHere are the lyrics that play in the soundtrack of my life:
"And I meant, every word I said
When I said that I love you I meant
That I love you forever"
By the way, Andrew, thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. I'll be checking back in with you as well! This was a fun idea!
My vote for this goes to Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville's "I don't know much"
ReplyDeletehere are the lyrics..
Look at this face
I know the years are showin'
Look at this life
I still don't know where it's goin'
I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know
Look at these eyes
They never seen what mattered
Look at these dreams
So beaten and so battered, hoo¡ooh¡
I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know
So many questions
Still left unanswered
So much
I've never broken through
And when I feel you near me
Sometimes I see so clearly
The only truth I've ever known
Is me and you
Look at this man
So blessed with inspiration
Look at this soul
Still searching for salvation
I don't know much
But I know I love you
And that may be
All I need to know
I don't know much
But I know I love you
That may be
All I need to know
I don't know much
But I know I love you
That may be
All there is to know
One incredibly romantic night, after taking a bath together and listening to Billy Joel for hours(anything from him is on my list), my boyfriend put his John Lennon Tribute CD. He selected the following track and asked me to dance in our livingroom. I sure he wouldn't remember that night now, five years later, but it still gives me chills. That's when I knew he was the only one I wanted forever.

Song: Grow Old With Me
Written by: John Lennon
Album: Working Class Hero: A Tribute to John Lennon
Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one
God bless our love
God bless our love
Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting sun
When the day is done
God bless our love
God bless our love
Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end
Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it through
For our love is true
God bless our love
God bless our love
I had my say but now I think I should add two that are less cynical:
ReplyDeleteForever and Ever, Amen
and
Deeper than the Holler
both by Randy Travis.
